Jordanston Veterinary Acupuncture & Canine Massage

Faye Richards - MRCVS , member of ABVA and CMG

I graduated from the ‘Royal [Dick] Veterinary College , University of Edinburgh in 1994. I have been a veterinary surgeon for over 30 years , initially in mixed practice, then equine practice and for the last 15 years doing mainly small animals.

I enjoy using acupuncture and massage alongside conventional medicine to help the patients I see.

I live in Pembrokeshire with my family which includes our 2 dogs , Fergus and Taggie.

From early on in my career I always felt that we could do more for animals with chronic pain than just put them on medication. In 2008 I did a veterinary acupuncture course with ABVA [Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists] and have practiced this alongside conventional medicine .

I have increasingly enjoyed seeing my acupuncture patients as the effects can be amazing and I also enjoy the chance to get to know the patients really well.

Over the years I have worked with many veterinary physiotherapists and noticed how well some conditions responded to massage alongside acupuncture.

This led me to do some in depth training with ‘The Canine Massage Therapy Centre’, which I completed in 2022 so can now combine massage and acupuncture in treatments.

I feel now between acupuncture and massage I have a good set of skills which can be tailor made to suit your dog’s unique issues. Some dogs and conditions will suit a combination of massage and acupuncture, others may suit just massage  or just acupuncture, but the treatment can be adjusted to suit your dog’s individual needs.
